New user creation
It is often necessary to give different users different permissions. Also it can be useful to change the user interface according to the size of the device that is used. For this reason EVE allows the creation of an unlimited number of users, each one with a specific customized user interface. Each user has also the possibility, if authorized, to create other users, to change their own interface or even change the configuration values of the components on the bus.
Let’s have a look to the title bar layout and the information we can get from it:
1. EVE Manager version: it allows you to immediately know which version of EVE Manager you are using;
2. Connected user: it shows which user did open the project (usually the admin or other user if authorized);
3. Current user: it shows the user for which you are going to arrange the end user interface of EVE Remote;
4. Current project: it displays the title of the project defined when saving (“n.d.” stands for “Not Defined”).
Select “Project” from the main menu bar and then “User”. When selecting “User” the menu does expand and give you few more options. You can edit the current user of your project (displaied on the title bar of EVE Manager) or add a new user to the project. Below a list of all the users of the project.
Admin user is the first and only user of any new EVE project. It is created by default and cannot be removed from the project. Admin is allowed to operate on any part of the project. This means that it owns all the project’s permissions and it is the user which defines password, settings and also the creation of new users and their permissions.
When you open a saved project it is asked you to authenticate yourself entering your ID and password. EVE will automatically check if you are allowed to manage the project and will load it or reject your request. In other words, the credentials to get access to the project are defined by the user authentication and not by a project password. Admin is the only user to be allowed to manage the project (at least at the beginning) and this means that its credentials will be the one which will allows to work on the project. It is important therefore for the Admin to edit the defaulted password as soon as possible in order to make the system safe and unaccessible for any stranger.
Default Admin’s credentials:
Who has the permission to manage users is allowed to edit its credentials and other users’ credentials. In order to do this, it is necessary to be sure about the user for which you will make the change so check the title bar and then proceed.
Select “Project” from the main menu bar and then “User”. When selecting “User” the menu does expand and give you few more options. Select “Edit” command and “User management” window will pop up. Here you will be free to make all the necessary changing on credentials and user interface settings. After changing remeber to save the project.
New user creation
Who has the permission to manage users is allowed to create new users, manage credentials and the main setting of the interface. New users creation is fondamental either with small and big projects. This is the first step in order to manage the user interface creation (Classic and Map) for EVE Remote App.
Select “Project” from the main menu bar and then “User”.
When selecting “User” the menu does expand and give you few more options.
Select “Add new” command and “User management” window will pop up. Here you will be able to create a new user entering credentials and setting the main user interface settings. After creation remeber to save the project.
