What can the system do with an Apple TV?
Launch an app, navigate with the remote commands — menu, home and the directional buttons — and read or set the volume. The power state is reported back to the interface, so a scene can check whether the box is awake before acting on it.
How does the Apple TV connect?
Over the building network, by IP address and port, paired once from the interface. Automatic discovery works on the same subnet, but manual entry is the supported path: in a structured installation mDNS does not routinely cross VLANs.
Does it replace the Sonos app?
No. It puts the controls that belong in a scene — source, playlist, zone volume — where the rest of the room already is.
What about equipment with no network control?
Global Caché and IRTrans convert commands to infrared over the network, which covers legacy AV that only ever had a remote.
Can audio be part of a scene?
Yes. A scene consolidates multiple actions into one command, and audio zones are actions like any other.
