Do I need a separate gateway for Modbus or BACnet?
No. The KNX, Modbus, BACnet and IP gateways are built into the server, so third-party systems connect without additional interface hardware in the cabinet.
Can the server act as a Modbus slave?
Yes — master or slave. The server adapts to the project, so it can either poll field devices or expose itself to a third-party BMS.
What is the REST API for?
For anything that has no standard protocol: a custom controller, a management system, a piece of plant with its own interface. Ask us what your case needs.
What does the server do over SNMP?
It reads and writes network devices that speak SNMP — UPS units, switches, PDUs, storage. Add one SNMP gateway per device, load its MIBs, and every value they describe becomes a component in Ilevia Manager: read-only values as indicators, writable ones as controls. SNMPv3 and traps are supported, so an alarm from the device arrives as an event rather than at the next poll.
